Right now they also have a Facebook contest where you have the chance to win a $50 WinCo gift card just for picking your favorite Cheerios Mix recipe.  You don't even have to have a Facebook account in order to enter (just click the picture below to see the contest).

I went for the first time this past week and I was both surprised and impressed.  Although I don't care much for big box stores anymore, WinCo looks like it could be the perfect grocery shopping option for individuals as well as families, both large and small.  I originally thought they were like a CostCo, Sam's or a Walmart but I was wrong.

Here are some of the things I found very interesting about WinCo:

• They have some very low everyday prices on a variety of standard items (for example Nature's Own bread for .98 cents and Fresh Express 50/50 mix salad at $2.98 for a large 10oz container)

• They are an employee owned company

• They have a green initiative and actively manage their impact on the environment

• No membership OR store loyalty card is required to shop there

• They do not accept credit cards – only cash, check, debit and EBT transactions (really if you think about, that makes it easier to stay within your grocery budget)

• They're open 24 hours

• They have bulk foods that you can purchase by weight (things like tortellini pasta and even Cheetos type cheese curl snacks)

• You bag your own grocery purchases (don't worry, they do provide you with bags)

• THEY ACCEPT MANUFACTURER COUPONS (my next blog is about their coupon policy)

Although there were many other things that were unique about WinCo, I'm still reeling from the fact that they had DOLE bananas for .28 cents per lb (and I think that's their everyday price)!
